Coca-Cola Refreshing Films

The Coca-Cola Refreshing Films program gives an opportunity for students to create and bring their scripts to life on the big screen. The program has been running for 24 years and looking for 50-second spots. They collect scripts and select 4 students. Those students who are chosen will receive 50,000 dollars. You get to go through that experience with working with a team and a client. It is a different experience and will look good on your resume. They may choose 4 students, but only one gets the big prize to be on the big screen. You would have to go through brand approvals, script reviews, storyboard approvals, and set design. There will be set days to turn in different versions of your script and it will receive feedback. Once your script is accepted, it will go through a panel industry expert and will watch the films. They will go by the criteria, then pick the winner. It is important to know how to market your films. Students who are selected will be provided a handbook with all the requirements and deadlines for their production in advance. Students must submit three things, which are the application, script, and a signed budget. The budget is the biggest barrier for many students. They would have many ideas but get intimidated by the budget. The program does not judge on the budget. To apply for this program, you must apply in a team of two. One of those team members must be the designated producer and the other can be any other role such as producer-director, producer editor, producer set designer, etc. You must take on a role beyond writer because the program has a lot of writers. If you have a very busy life, find a partner who is more available. The pandemic caused movie theaters to shut down, but all the movie theaters are open or opening again. Coca-Cola Refreshing Films want to celebrate that. People tend to go out to eat and spend time with friends or family. It is special because it allows you to shut down your phones and enjoy the moment. She played a Coca-Cola Clip. We all went to a fountain machine, poured a Coca-Cola, and take a sip to then go back for some more. It is a relatable moment. The purpose was to connect with their audience. You must be aware of the cause and effect. Companies can’t showcase and make claims with their products they cannot substantiate. For example, someone drinking Coke and growing muscles. Then, turned into the hulk. It will be very hard to make Coke the catalyst because the focus is on the guy who grew muscles. Secondly, the Hulk is a trades mark character the program does not own the rights to use. They can’t take other creative liberties from other companies.
