Coca-Cola Refreshing Films

Image
The Coca-Cola Refreshing Films program gives an opportunity for students to create and bring their scripts to life on the big screen. The program has been running for 24 years and looking for 50-second spots. They collect scripts and select 4 students. Those students who are chosen will receive 50,000 dollars. You get to go through that experience with working with a team and a client. It is a different experience and will look good on your resume. They may choose 4 students, but only one gets the big prize to be on the big screen. You would have to go through brand approvals, script reviews, storyboard approvals, and set design. There will be set days to turn in different versions of your script and it will receive feedback. Once your script is accepted, it will go through a panel industry expert and will watch the films. They will go by the criteria, then pick the winner. It is important to know how to market your films. Students who are selected will be provided a handbook wit...

WAATBP: Capital One

URL:  WAATBP 2021  We were introduced to the Capital One team who individually introduced themselves one by one. People asked questions about having experience before going into their careers. The Capital One Team stated you do not need experience but having a visually pleasing resume and portfolio is all you need. Someone asked if they ever experienced brain fog and how do they manage it. Everyone from the team said they have experienced it multiple times but taking a step away from your work will allow your brain to think without realizing it. Sitting in front of a screen can make you tired. One of the members stated he go do something fun or therapeutic to him. He enjoys playing the drums and playing the drums calms his mind. After speaking to the members, we were all escorted out to meet individually with the recruitment companies we signed up for. I met with TPN Retail and 19 & park. TPN Retail is a creative commerce agency that makes iconic retail, technology, ...

First Animated Image

Image
I created an animated version of a family member who passed away last year. I took a photograph of him and used it as a guide. I created a layer for his skin, eyes, hair, and clothes. I even used the pen tool to outline the features and textures. This process took me 4 to 5 hours to complete.

Ren & Stimpy Show Reinvented TV Animation

Image
URL:    https://www.cartoonbrew.com/tv/the-ren-stimpy-show-reinvented-tv-animation-and-its-influence-remains-30-years-later-207841.html There are some classic animation shows such as The Simpsons (1989) and Animated Series (1992) adult sitcoms that persist to this day. I grew up on the show The Ren & Stimpy Show on Nickelodeon. The show first premiered 30 years ago on August 11, 1991. When the show first aired, there was a knock-off version of the show imitating it. Nickelodeon claims they are no longer doing knock-off versions of shows. However, there are knock-off versions of Spongebob Squarepants called Kamp Koral and a Patrick Star Show reboot. The article stated, “Artists who currently work in the industry weren’t born during the Ren & Stimpy era, so it is difficult to imagine animation on television at that time.” Since I was born in 2000, I am familiar with some 90’s shows that were constantly playing on Nickelodeon and Boomerang. All the shows I watched from my...

"Failing Your Way to Success" by LeSean Thomas

Image
You must be willing to achieve what others won’t do. LeSean Thomas failed because he wasn’t familiar with the Korean language and culture. It made things harder like traveling to work, eating their food, and communicating with people. He felt homesick and thought about giving up. When things don’t work as you planned and you think about giving up, you are considered a failure. To be successful, you must overcome your obstacles. The three key points he made were Pre-production, Post-production, and Main production. I learned Pre-production is the skill and process Americans use to create the characters and form a storyline. Post-production is the second process, in which Americans take the animation that Korea made for them and edit the animation with effects, voices, and music. Then, air it on television. The Main production is outsourcing. I agree with his statements because the people whom we considered crazy are the ones who made history. Someone thought ab...
